Hi padeldriver,
Today I want to share with you some important news: I just started a sabbatical year from Rolls-Royce (my main job) to fully dedicate myself to padel.
Yes — padel, our favourite sport.
I guess it might sound like a plot twist. But the truth is: it’s been years in the making.
Over the last three years, I’ve been building something outside of my engineering career. What started as a weekend hobby is now a YouTube channel with over 32,000 subscribers, a coaching business where I’ve taught more than 1,000 players, and a growing community around this amazing sport.
But behind the scenes, it wasn’t easy.
Working two jobs during the week and spending weekends creating content meant my days started and ended working. There were months where I barely saw my friends or spoke with my family, and although I was proud of what I was doing, sometimes I felt I wasn’t fully enjoying the ride or giving either path the dedication it truly deserved.
That’s why I’ve decided to pause my engineering career for 12 months and give this padel dream a shot.
It’s scary, uncertain, and exciting in equal parts. I don’t know where this will take me, but I had a feeling the future Gonzalo could regret it if I didn't try.
So yes, this means that I will be more active than ever in social media and I will be fully focused on producing the best padel content possible.
As always, thanks for your continuous support. It means the world to me.
Let’s see where this goes 🚀
Gonzalo
